We're seeking a motivated and experienced literary agent to help authors land good publication deals. Acting as the principal point of contact between authors and publishers, helping authors through the publishing process, and taking the required steps to protect authors' interests are all tasks of the literary agent.
Responsibilities:
● Creating and maintaining long-term partnerships with editors, publishers, and authors
● Identifying literary genius by sifting through inquiry letters
● Requesting complete manuscripts or sample chapters from talented authors
● Examining authors' manuscripts to see if they have a large market potential
● Sending form letters to the respective Authors in response to denied queries
● Authors' manuscripts are pitched to appropriate publishing houses
● Authors' rights to favorable publication deals are negotiated on their behalf
● Authors are given advice, support, and encouragement
Requirements:
● It is preferred that you have a bachelor's degree in English language or literature,
journalism, or a related profession
● Working experience as a literary agent is required
● A thorough understanding of the publishing sector
● Working in a fast-paced atmosphere is a must
● Excellent networking and negotiating abilities
● Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational capabilities
