Our company's sick leave policy details the policies in place for employees who become ill and need to miss work. The sample policy that follows outlines how sick leave will be accrued and used. All of our workers who have worked for us for at least [months] are covered by our sick leave policy.
If our staff become ill, they may be unable to complete their obligations. Our business adheres to all legal requirements that may relate to sick pay. We will also provide [days] of [paid/unpaid] sick leave. Other types of leave, such as maternity leave and paid time off, are not included in this leave (PTO).
Our employees have the option to take sick leave whenever they want:
- Recover from an unexpected sickness
- Get back on your feet after an accident or injury
- When necessary, seek mental/psychological help or psychotherapy.
Employees should use their PTO to attend to routine healthcare (e.g. doctor's/dental appointments).
Every [#] year of employment with our organization, employees will receive [#] additional days. Employees can accumulate unused sick leave until they reach a specified number of days, depending on the law. Unused sick time might be factored into an employee's retirement payout. To minimize spreading infections, employees who feel ill should either use their sick days or work from home.
Employees should notify their supervisor as soon as possible if they want to use their sick leave, either via email or an automated Human Resources Information System. They should also notify their supervisor of their absence and report daily for each day of sick leave. Employees may be required to provide a physician's note or other medical certification and/or complete a sick leave form under certain instances. These scenarios include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Being absent on sick leave for more than [# days].
- When a pattern emerges, there are a few things to keep in mind (e.g. employees plead sick at a specific time each week.)
All requests for sick time will be handled with discretion.
