
Assessors make sure that personal property is at a fair value. This includes appraising as well. They also assess the taxes that correspond with prescribed schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Figure out the taxability and fair value of properties
- Prepare field inspections, architectural measurements, structural calculations, sales analyses, market trends, and income analyses
- Oversee new construction projects and improvements to structures and adjust the determined valueIdentify ownership of property
- Direct and explain assessed values to property owners
- Send out issues with notices that contain the assessments and taxes
Requirements:
- MCAO Certification
- Current, valid Michigan driver’s license
- Ability to evaluate situations objectively, solve difficulties, and operate successfully under pressure while adhering to deadlines and changing job priorities
- Ability to use office equipment and technology, such as computers and related applications
- All criteria under the General Property Tax Act are well-understood
